Securing and coordinating a media interview for your client is a huge win for tech PR agencies, but that’s only half the battle. You’ve also got to do interview prep and hope that your client keeps your advice in mind when speaking with the journalist. Most importantly, you must make sure that your client doesn’t try to control how the story turns out.

Asking for copy approval is a clear indication for the journalist that the person they’re interviewing has misinterpreted the nature of journalism and the role of PR in it. It’s impossible for a journalist to offer an unbiased, independent take on a subject if their article has been mucked about with by PR teams.
