B2B technology PR professionals are no strangers to fighting for media attention. Unless your clients are the top performers in their industries, it can be next-to-impossible to get a journalist interested, especially during major tech events such as the Apple announcement last week.
Fortunately, there are a few tactics you can use to gain more media interest. Debbie Leven of The PR Coach shares seven tips public relations pros can use to get journalists more interested in covering their clients.
Not the right time – timing matters. Don’t pitch an idea to a consumer magazine in November for an article about planning for Christmas when they work three months in advance. And, there’s no point presenting an idea for an article when the same journalist covered exactly that topic, in that way, a week ago. Think about it, you’re just wasting your time, and theirs too.
