Do Your Press Releases Break Any of These Rules?

We’ve talked extensively about the importance of writing effective press releases, which should speak to their importance for B2B technology PR professionals. Unfortunately, journalists are still overwhelmed by pitches each day, many of which have nothing to do with the reporter’s beat. Other common problems with press releases are length and lack of useful content.

 Daney Parker of PRMoment.com spoke with public relations professionals and journalists to get the ten rules to live by when writing a press release.

There is one cardinal sin of press release writing and that is the use of ‘I am thrilled/delighted …’ in the quote. Of course your spokesperson is thrilled by your announcement, that’s their job. Instead use the quote for a key message which is best to delivered with a human touch.
